The Autumn term topic is The Victorians:Famous Victorian Women & What have the Victorians done for us?
We will be studying many aspects of this important era through much of the curriculum along with other subjects.
This half term we will focus on the following:
The children's English work will focus on two novels:
Queen of the Falls by Chris Van Allsburg and The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling.
In Maths this half term the children will be focusing on and learning about Place Value and Number (Numbers to 1,000,000+), Multiplication and Division strategies and Geometry - Properties of Shapes. The children will have Mental Maths, Times Tables and Arithmetic sessions in addition to their daily Maths lessons. The children will be learning and consolidating their Times Tables knowledge using BBC Supermovers, so listen out at home for these fun songs!
In Science this half term, we will be learning about Forces:
Identifying forces as pushes and pulls
Explaining gravity as a force
Identifying Isaac Newton's discoveries
Explaining the effects of friction, including air and water resistance
Identifying different mechanisms
The children will be learning about Digital Safety.

The children will learn about two famous Victorians artists, their lives and their important work:
The children will also be studying Food Technology and learning about Great British Dishes.
This half term the children will learn and perform a number of Music Hall songs popular in the Victorian times such as:
Any Old Iron
The Quartermaster's Stores
They will also study the music from Chopin, Schumann and Tchaikovsky
Netball and Indoor Athletics - taught by Premier Sports
The children will create their Class Rules, discuss how they are unique and good and bad feelings.
Within RE sessions the children will focus on Christianity
Food Glorious Food! - The children will learn how to ask for certain foods, discuss their preferences and explain the colours of different foods
