This Week's Learning
Week ending 16th March
ENGLISH: We finished off our work on the ‘Ride of Passage’ video by writing a description of the journey Toki and the chameleon take through the forest. Our next writing focus is explanation texts and we are exploring great sentence types which we can use. These include: using colons and brackets; starting with an adverb; the use of a relative clause and conditional sentences (using Beyonce’s song ‘If I were a boy’).
Maths: We have learnt how we can use our times table to find out the answers to more complicated calculations by partitioning the number and breaking it into smaller pieces. We are also looking at more formal methods of short multiplication.
SCIENCE: In science, week we have focused on the water cycle. This has included making a rainforest in a bottle, clouds in a glass and rain from shaving foam. We will also write an explanation text about the water cycle.
